Rewatching the malayalam movie Drishyam, directed by Jithu Joseph , without the hype, one cannot be blamed if he finds the all time blockbuster is without logic. The movie, which helped the Malayalam super star Mohan Lal's return to top and spawned an era of twisting thriller movies, also gave rise to sequels in many languages. But the movie also had glaring plot holes which left the entire police team that investigated the crime look like fools..

For example, in the malayalam movie, the hero, Georgekutty, on returning home, finds that his daughter murdered Varun, the beloved and rotten son of IG Geetha Prabhakar. He hides the body, takes Varun's mobile SIM, and goes on an infamous journey. He then buys a new used mobile phone, inserts Varun SIM, throws it in a National permit lorry, and the police cannot find any evidence for the same, right?
Now, when IG Geetha Prabhakar start looking for her son, she asks cyber cell to check his mobile location. The guy tells her that his mobile was switched off and the SIM was then activated from a second mobile .OK?
Later, when IG questions the witnesses, she understands exactly what Georgekutty did, but cannot get any evidences to nav him. Right?... One wonders if she ever heard of the term IMEI number?
Suppose the same thing happens in real life. The police finds out the SIM was activated from second mobile. They then track down that mobile s previous odnef using IMEI number and call data, who tells them he sold nit at a shop. The police then questions the owner and workers of the shop, and check CCTV if possible. BINGO! Now Georgekutty has to explain how Varuns SIM came into a mobile bought by him. Also, last location of Varun before his mobile was switched off will be near Georgekutty 's home.. Proof, proof...
Alternate climax: Georgekutty accept the crime of kidnapping Varun and then may be forced to accept murder to save his family
No wonder many criminals who tried to imitate Drishyam failed miserably
